Un-deck The Halls - Christmas Tree Collection And Disposal Info

It’s that time of year - we are slowly putting away the trappings of the Holiday season and contemplating when to take down our Christmas tree. So we thought neighbors would like to know that Department of Public Works will be collecting Christmas trees from January 3rd to February 28th. From their website:

The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will collect holiday trees and greenery January 3 through February 28 from DPW-serviced households, which includes single-family homes and apartment dwellings with three or fewer units.

- Trees and greenery collected during this time will be composted in support of Mayor Bowser’s Zero Waste initiative.

- Holiday trees and greenery will be collected from the curbside or at the normal point of collection for trash and recycling.

You can also drop off your tree at one of our nearby transfer stations instead, from Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
