The Polar Plunge is an annual charity event in support of Special Olympics D.C. The event will take place at Catholic University’s Cardinal Stadium on Friday, February 3, at 6 p.m. Sounds like a fun event for a great cause! From the Catholic University Department of Athletics website:
Everyone is invited to take the plunge in the swimming pool which will be erected on the field, directly behind the DuFour Athletics Center.
It is a quick dip that makes a big impact in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

In order to participate in the plunge, individuals must raise a minimum of $50.00 to plunge with contributions going directly to Special Olympics D.C….The three-day event begins on Thursday, Feb. 6 with the corporate plunge, followed by the high school and university plunges on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8.
On Friday, the CUA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host the university plunge from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Several Cardinals athletics teams have signed up to participate and raise money for Special Olympics D.C. and for their specific team.
Along with the chilly plunge, there will be music, food, beverages, and indoor game of unified bocce with Special Olympic athletes. All plungers will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a digital photo of their momentous jump into the pool.

Special Olympics DC athletes take on challenges in our community every day with perseverance, grit, and optimism, despite the difficulties they encounter. Show your spirit and commitment to helping D.C.’s 1,400 Special Olympic athletes by taking a dip into an icy cool above-ground pool while raising much-needed funds on their behalf.
The first-ever Special Olympics D.C. Polar Bear Plunge will be held on Saturday, February 8 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Catholic University. There will be music, food, beverages, activities, and of course, plunging!
