Movie Summary: “In a town with no humans, just animals, a koala named Buster Moon realizes he will soon lose his theater if he cannot turn his luck around. He comes up with a plan to host a singing competition, where the winner will receive $100,000. Will this be enough to return his theater to glory?”

This fun family film is sure to get you tapping your feet and singing along. Catch it all under the stars with your friends, family and neighbors in Brookland!

Menkiti Group and DCTV are proud to present Moana for our first Brookland Movie Night Under the Stars of the season! Bring your friends, family and a blanket to this fun neighborhood event!

The event will begin at 7:30 pm and don’t forget your blankets or lawn chairs, any snacks or picnic items, some bug spray and flashlights. Also, save the date for the upcoming movie night dates: Thursday, July 20th and Thursday, August 17th. The movies will be shown at the DCTV campus at Brooks Mansion (901 Newton St NE).

Outdoor Movie Night To Support Stokes School Sunday May 8th

Stokes SchoolNow that the weather is getting warmer, we are going to start seeing outdoor movie nights pop up – Hooray! This one, coming up on Sunday May 8th has a small cover charge ($5) but is for a good cause. From a community message:

Come on out to the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market on May 8th at 8pm to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding! Thanks to co-sponsors Menkiti and Monroe Street Market, this outdoor movie night is a great opportunity to gather the community and support a neighborhood school, Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School.

The tickets are $5 each and include popcorn. All proceeds will benefit Stokes’ The Good Life event on May 21st at DC Brau. Get your tickets here or on site on the day of the event. For more information check out Stokes’ Facebook page here.

One of Brookland’s  favorite summer events, movie nights under the stars, returns Saturday with a showing of Shrek. Show up around sun-down to claim your spot, and the movie will begin around 8 PM. Bringing blankets or lawn chairs, snacks, bug spray and flashlights is always a good idea.

Many thanks to the Menkiti Group for bringing this event to the community for a third summer. The film will be shown at the field at John Burroughs Educational Campus is located at 1820 Monroe Street, NE.

One of Brookland’s  favorite summer events, movie nights under the stars, returns Thursday with a showing of Finding Nemo. Show up around sun-down to claim your spot, and the movie will begin around 8 PM. Bringing blankets or lawn chairs, snacks, bug spray and flashlights is always a good idea.

Menkiti Outdoor Summer Movie Nights Are Back – Vote For The Line Up Now

We are really excited to hear that Brookland outdoor summer movie nights are back! Now in its third year,  the movie series is sponsored by the Menkiti Group and we found out via Twitter that they are asking the community to pick the movies the movies they will show this summer.

The movies suggested in the poll are Shrek, Finding Nemo, Antz, Lego Movie, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story 2, Frozen, Night at the Museum, Peter Pan, How to train your Dragon, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, The Sandlot, and Annie. Vote for the movies you want to see here.

The movie nights will be on the following dates:

  • Thursday May 21st
  • Saturday June 20th
  • Thursday July 23rd
  • Saturday August 22nd

Movie nights will be at the Howard Divinity School front lawn (1400 Shepherd St NE).Come picnic as early as 7:00 and watch the film which will start at sun down, approximately 8:15 PM.  You are encouraged to bring something to sit on, something to snack on, bug spray, and flashlights (for after the film).
