NE Eats Returns – Save The Date And Tickets On Sale Now. Great Event, Great Cause.

Pic of the indoor portion of last years NE Eats event

Last years inaugural Northeast Eats event was a fundraiser and tasting event which showcased local food and beverage production in and around the NE DC. We were happy to hear NE Eats coming back. The event is a fundraiser to benefit Brookland’s Washington Jesuit Academy. WJA is a tuition-free middle school for boys from the District’s low-income neighborhoods. WJA leverages an 11-hour school day and 11-month school year to help young men get ahead in school and unlock their potential. As all students attend on full scholarship, and WJA must raise 98% of its annual operating budget each year.

NE Eats tickets include all food and beverage tastings, live music, and kids activities (under 8 free). From an email from organizers:

We are thrilled to announce that NE Eats will once again take place on Saturday, May 6th 2017 on the campus of the Washington Jesuit Academy. With your help, the first NE Eats surpassed our wildest expectations, and we are hoping for the event to be even bigger and better this year. Live Music, additional local food and beverage tastings, lawn games, and enhanced kids activities are all in the works as we seek to have the event fully outdoors.

Northeast Eats will directly support the students of the Washington Jesuit Academy (WJA), a tuition-free middle school for boys from the District’s low-income neighborhoods.  WJA leverages an 11-hour school day and 11-month school year to help young men get ahead in school and unlock their potential.  As all students attend on full scholarship, WJA must raise 98% of its annual operating budget each year.

WJA established its permanent home in the Brookland neighborhood in 2004 and has since engaged its neighbors as a critical fiber in the local fabric.  Given the emerging prominence of Brookland and all of Northeast DC in recent years, WJA intends to celebrate new culture in food, beverage, art, music, and philanthropy, while thanking old neighbors for their support and introducing themselves to new ones.

The $50 admission price includes all food, beverage, live music, and kids’ activities (Children under 8 are free). The Washington Jesuit Academy campus is located at 900 Varnum Street NE.
