Brookland dog lovers are lucky to have Langdon Dog Park so close to our neighborhood. But while it is relatively new and one of the largest dog parks in DC, users complain that they often find the park to be empty. This sort of negates one of the benefits of bringing your pooch to the park, the social interaction that well-adjusted dogs need. My opinion is that the only way to resolve this is for folks to get involved. Now is the perfect time as the Langdon Dog Park Association is having their first membership meeting of 2014. The meeting will be from 7:30-9:00 pm on Monday, January 27th at Langdon Park Community Center (2901 20th Street NE). The agenda for the meeting includes planning for the year, installation of new board officers, changes to the bylaws including extending membership terms to two years, and planning for a tree-planting with Casey Trees later in 2014.

But while it is relatively new and one of the largest dog parks in DC, users complain that they often find the park to be empty. This sort of negates one of the benefits of bringing your pooch to the park, the social interaction that well adjusted dogs need. So, some neighbors came with a solution; if there was a designated time that neighbors take their dogs to the park, it would help to better utilize the park. So, the Langdon Doggie Happy Hour was born. The Happy Hour will be every Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at Langdon Dog Park. The park’s entrance is the unpaved road off 20th St NE between Franklin and Hamlin Streets.
The Langdon Dog Park Association will be meeting tomorrow, December 5, 2012 at 7 pm at San Antonio Bar and Grill located in Brookland at 3908 12th Street, NE. This will be the last meeting of the year, and thus will be a wrap-up the LDPA’s business for the year, and elections for the 2013 board will be held.
Note: all are welcome to attend (but only current LDPA members may vote). If you haven’t taken your pooch to the Langdon dog park, you should check it out. It is located at 2901 20th St. NE.
