neighbors would like an update. By now, all the big box anchors, Costco, Lowe’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls and PetSmart are open.
According to this story in the Washington Business Journal:
The latest tenants to sign long-term leases at The Shops at Dakota Crossing are Starbucks, Five Below, Vitamin Shoppe, Panda Express and T-Mobile, making the development nearly 90 percent leased, according to its owner.
These stores should open by early 2017. We haven’t heard any more info on the “upscale” TGIFridays that was supposed to be in the works about a year ago, but one full-service family friendly restaurant and a few other eateries are expected in any case. We will keep an eye on things and let you know when we learn anything new.
Back in January 2015 we wrote about the big box retailers coming to the nearby Dakota Crossing development in Fort Lincoln. (The development with the Costco.) At that time we knew Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lowe’s (already open), Marshall’s and PetSmart were coming. We recently saw on the Gateway To The City DC blog that Starbucks, Chipotle, TGI Fridays “New Upscale Concept ”, and Burger Place are coming to the development, as well as retail stores T-Mobile, Vitamin Shoppe and 5 Below. According to the blog, all of these stores and restaurants will be open within the next 12 months.
We normally only write about things happening in and around Brookland, but we know many neighbors enjoy shopping at the Costco at the nearby Dakota Crossing development in Fort Lincoln. So, we thought folks would be interested in knowing that more retail options are scheduled to open there, including Marshall’s and Lowe’s. We have also read that Dick’s Sporting Goods and PetSmart may also be on the way. Once these large retail anchors are in place, the development will be rounded out with smaller retail stores geared towards nearby residents like dry cleaners, and restaurants. Look for the bigger box stores to open sometime between summer and fall of this year.
