On their website, they posted this message:

After three and a half years in business, Chocolate City Beer will be closing its doors and turning off the lights on December 31st 2014. We want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU!!! to all our supporters, friends and family, to our neighbors in Brookland, Edgewood and to the greater DC/DMV region. It was our pleasure to be a part of the local craft beer renaissance since 2011.
We will remain open for our regular Growler Hours both Saturdays December, 20th and 27th, as well as a couple TBA weekday nights approaching New Years Eve.

Our latest and sadly, last brew is in the tank, a New Brew: a heavily hopped Black IPA named GoodBye.P.A.- w/ Citra and Galaxy Hops and a strong roasted malt backbone.

Be sure to swing by, say farewell, pick up some Growlers of the last Cornerstone Copper Ale, Cerveza Nacional Black Lager and our swan song GoodBye.P.A.

Tom Bridge, President of the Brookland Neighborhood Civic Association (BNCA) issued a statement on the Brookland Yahoo! Group (listserv) delaying tomorrow’s Great Brookland Yard Sale until tomorrow, Sunday, May 12th:

Due to the very high chance of inclement weather tomorrow, at this time, we are opting to use the Rain Date of Sunday May 12th, from 10am to 2pm.

We are very sorry to have to move the sale to Mother’s Day, but at this time, it is our best option.

Due to the last minute nature of the move, tables will NO LONGER be available for rent at St. Anthony’s or Guildfield Baptist Church.

We will be calling all sellers and updating our map, and I will send out a map update late this evening.

Thank you for your patience & understanding.

Debbi Rich, of the Greater Brookland Garden Club also issued a postponement statement:

The Garden Club is moving our plant sale to Sunday as well.  If you have plants to donate and can’t make it on Sunday, please let me know.  We will have an alternative location for Saturday drop-off. See you Sunday!  We will be across from the CVS, 9:00 – 4:00 pm.

All in not lost though! The fine guys over at Chocolate City Beer  are having their usual growler hours tomorrow, so why not check them out instead? Chocolate City Beer is located at 2801 8th St, NE. From their Facebook page:
