Ever since SCRAP DC left the commercial property at 3101 12th Street NE in November, a lot of neighbors have been anticipating what would take its place. We learned from the tweet below that Bluebird Sky Yoga will be setting up shop in that space, which is at the corner of 12th and Irving NE.
While information like class schedules and instructor bios are still forthcoming, the Bluebird Sky website says the following:
Bluebird Sky Yoga was founded in order to bring yoga, music, art, and more to Brookland. We are located in one of DC’s most creative neighborhoods in a former craft store, and honor the creativity of the city through our murals and art-focused events.
Founder Jennie Light discovered her love of yoga nearly a decade ago while living in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Just like the great outdoors, she found that the yoga mat offers a space for self-exploration and discovery. We can push our edge, or simply sit and observe. While the mountains are far from the city, B. K. Iyengar reminds us that, “you do not need to find freedom in a different land, for it exists within your own body, heart, mind, and soul.”
Our schedule is intentionally diverse. Whether you are looking to study a long-rooted tradition such as Ashtanga, a flowing practice like Prana Flow, a martial-arts influenced practice such as Primal Yoga® Flow, a fascia-focused practice like Yin, an upbeat practice like Rocket, a restorative practice such as meditation, or something else entirely, we hope you will find classes and a community you love.
We hope to see you soon.
Love and Light,
The Bluebird Sky Yoga team
We will let you know when we learn anything more. Welcome to the neighborhood Bluebird Sky Yoga!
