Dance Place’s Art On Eighth Continues With Free Events All Summer

Just a reminder that Dance Place’s Art on Eighth program has been bringing tons of free cultural events to the neighborhood, from dance, to live music and visual arts to kids activities. These events will take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through October 2014! Here is a rundown of July events from the Dance Place website:

  • July 3 – August 2 (Thurs and Fri: 6-8pm, Sat: 10am-3pm): Abstract Paintings from Recycled Materials by George Beard at Studio 21. Gallery Opening and reception on July 3 at 6pm.
  •  Thursday July 3 at 6:30pm: Taiko Drumming with Mark Rooney – traditional Japanese drumming (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Friday July 4 at 6:30pm: No Performance (Independence Day)
  • Saturday July 5 at 12:30pm: No Workshop (Independence Day Weekend)
  • Thursday July 10 at 6:30pm: Duende Quartet – Smooth Latin Jazz (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Friday July 11 at 6:30pm: DC Casineros – Cuban Salsa (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Saturday July 12 at 12:30pm: BE CREATIVE – Arts and Crafts with Carla Perlo and Andrea Petty-Brown (Studio 21 on the Arts Walk)
  •  Thursday July 17 at 6:30pm: Polvo & Scree – Jazz & Latin Stylings (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Friday July 18 at 6:30pm: Freddie Dunn Jr., Carla Perlo and Delante White – Live Jazz, POP and Hoop Jam (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Saturday July 19 at 12:30pm: BE CREATIVE – Arts and Crafts with Carla Perlo and Andrea Petty-Brown (Studio 21 on the Arts Walk)
  •  Thursday July 24 at 6:30pm: Vibe Collective – Afro-Cuban Jazz Improv (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Friday July 25 at 6:30pm: Coyaba Dance Theater – African Dance (Arts Plaza at Monroe St. Market)
  • Saturday July 26 at 12:30pm: BE CREATIVE – Arts and Crafts with Carla Perlo and Andrea Petty-Brown (Studio 21 on the Arts Walk)

 Art on 8th events continue rain or shine. Rain location: Studio 21 unless otherwise noted.

  1. Toxic wastes are released into the atmosphere while
    processing the junk and good quality companies take special
    care not to harm the environment. Food and gasoline started the
    rationing program but other items followed immediately like rubber,
    scrap metal, nylon (practically everything) so government could
    control supply and demand and assures the vast military that it would be supplied
    with their needs. The color of your car can go a long way
    in determining its resale value.
