Here at the Bridge, we think it is important to thank and honor our Nation’s Veterans – not just on Veteran’s Day – but everyday. A great way to show your appreciation is to volunteer at the nearby Washington DC VA Hospital Center. There are a lot of ways to help out, for example, picking up and escorting veterans, calling them to remind the of appointments, and helping with the information desk. If you don’t have time to volunteer, they also need monetary and other donations such as bottled water, clothing and coffee. Interested? Sign up here, call the Voluntary Service Office, 202-745-8000, ext. 58320 or visit the Voluntary Service Office. But really, all it takes to make a difference is stopping by the hospital and simply visiting with the veterans. Just a little of your time, and some friendly conversation, makes a big difference to these good men and women who sacrificed so much, and are working so hard to recover from injuries. The VA hospital is located at 50 Irving St. NW, Washington, DC 20422, and is easily accessible by car, as well as a shuttle that picks up and drops off at the Brookland CUA Metro station.
