Well this is an exciting event! Here is your chance to mix, mingle and share info with Iraqi youth, all in our own backyard! From The Dance Place Website:

At the Edgewood Arts Building (3415 8th Street NE)

Hip-Hop diplomacy comes to the United States this October as six members of the First Step Crew, comprised of dancers and rappers from Baghdad, Basra, Erbil and Suleimaniya. The First Step Crew, from Iraq, will be collaborating with local hip hop groups in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and Detroit as part of their US tour.

Join these young dancers and rappers as they express their hopes and desires for a better world and a better Iraq through Hip Hop.

6:30-7:30pm: Artist Dialogue with First Step Crew and Urban Artistry – What is it like to be an artist in the US and in Iraq?

8:00-9:00pm: Informal performance featuring First Step Crew, Urban Artistry and DC-based rapper Lewis Ford

9:00-10:00pm: Open Cypher – get out on the floor with the dancers!
