At long last, the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the Department of General Services (DGS) are ready to move forward with the renovation of Turkey Thicket playground. A meeting will take place at Turkey Thicket Recreational Center on Tuesday August 27 from 6:30 to 7:30 to discuss the details. Those interested in making sure we have a quality public area for all ages are urged to come and show support as well as to send the message that the community expects the renovation to include everything that was discussed in the original plans for the playground. This includes – the splash park, picnic areas, revitalized exercise track with exercise stations, soccer field and, my favorite, the outdoor movie screen. Jackie Stanley, Community Outreach Coordinator with DGS sent an email that included the following: “The next step in this process is a pre-construction community meeting, in which we will introduce the construction team and discuss the final design, the construction schedule, and any potential impacts to the site.” Hope to see you there.
