Looking for something local, free and fun to do this weekend? Check out the Family Festival at the nearby Armed Forces Retirement Home this Saturday, May 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The festival is hosted by Friends of the Soldier’s Home and will feature:
- Live Jazz Performances
- Carnival Games & Prizes (Bocce/Volleyball/Football Toss/Horse Shoes/Baseball Throw/Golf Putting Mats and More)
- A Walking Tour of the Grounds at 2pm with Brookland’s own Mary Pat Rowan
- Toy Boat Races on the Pond
- Food Trucks (Captain Cookie and the Milk Man, The Big Cheese, and DC Ballers)
- Beer from DC Brau
The event is free and you are welcome to bring your picnic baskets but dogs are not invited. There will be limited parking for a $5 donation. The festival will take place on the Lower Grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home at Rock Creek Church Road and Randolph St NW. This event is rain or shine.
