On Sunday, December 16th, the long time Brookland tradition, the Celebration of Lights, continued without a hitch despite drizzly weather. Happy Brooklanders rode trolleys and serenaded the owners of the most highly decorated homes with Christmas Carols, as the trolley made its way through neighborhood. I must say, we had a rowdy, fun-loving bunch on my trolley ride, the last one of the evening. Santa even joined in the fun, stepping aboard to hand out candy canes. It was a great time and really ramped up my holiday spirit. Many thanks to the Brookland Community Development Corporation, (a historic preservation-based community development non-profit) and in particular Lavinia Wohlfarth and John Feeley for all their hard work in pulling off another successful Celebration of Lights!
