  1. I love to support local – and it’s very important to our community! There is a saying – “Put your money where your house is”. That is, investing money back into the community we live in will make it stronger and healthier – not just economically, but in many other ways as well.
I would also like to add: Brookland Hardware for home needs and Christmas lights, Brookland Inn or Aunt Bea’s Bed and Breakfast (both on 12th street) in case people are visiting and there is not enough space to house them, Dollar Store (on 12th) for party supplies balloons paper plates etc, Newton Market for non-perishables, and remember Yes Organic Market is a local chain of markets of which sells quite an array of locally made goods (Sweet and Natural vegan desserts, pastries from Chez Hareg on 4th street NE, bread and bakery items from La Cazuela, Moorenko’s Ice Cream – look around, there’s more!)
