We thought neighbors would be interested in knowing about this cleanup and outreach effort going on in the neighborhood Saturday. From an email:
This Saturday, August 12, from 9am to 5pm, the DC Department of Public Works and DC Superior Court’s Community Court program will have a joint project just north of Turkey Thicket. It will be a clean-up and canvassing project by ~15 people who have a community service requirement as part of a sentence or part of getting their case dismissed. DPW will be assigning the tasks (as they usually do with those who perform their court community service at a DPW site or on a DPW project). Volunteers will be cleaning up or canvassing the neighborhood, giving out information on DPW’s Solid Waste Education & Enforcement Program (SWEEP). The Court will have a table and tent at the corner of 10th St and Perry, with information about court programs and to answer any questions area residents may have.
