Today Col. Brooks’ Tavern held a sale of remaining restaurant equipment and some memorabilia. It was sad to see the place so vacant. It really hit home that this Brookland institution has come to an end.

I wholeheartedly support the new development, but these photos make me sad. Colonel Brooks will be dearly missed…so many good memories there!
Jen, thanks for commenting (and reading). Yes, it was very sad, but I am glad I was able to capture it in photos before it was too late. I ate lunch there pretty frequently and it is really starting to hit home that my reliable spot is gone. But, I am optimistic that better things are around the corner. The key, I think, is to honor the history while moving ahead.
You are so right! Good memories, but a positive change that will build a better Brookland. I love your blog and look forward to reading it everyday. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thanks Jen
