Congrats To The Greater Brookland Garden Club For Another Successful House And Garden Tour

The 16th Annual Brookland House and Garden Tour took place last weekend, and once again, it was a terrific showcase of what a fantastic neighborhood we live in.  The tour, which is organized by the Greater Brookland Garden Club is one of the major annual neighborhood events that really brings our community together, as you can see from the pictures we took of the after party below. We were proud to be a sponsor of the event this year and look forward to participating again. (You need flash to see the slide show. If you can’t see it, click here to open the slide show in Flikr.)

Here is a message from Mary Pat Rowan, President of the Greater Brookland Garden Club:

Thanks to everyone who helped make the 16th annual Brookland House & Garden Tour a wonderful event. Thanks especially to the eight generous groups and families who opened their homes and gardens to guests and to the Capital Area Food Bank for guiding guests through their demonstration gardens.

Special thanks go to our major sponsor, Abbott Klar Real Estate Group (Jake Abbott & Shemaya Klar and crew). The reception, as always, was a celebration of our wonderful Brookland neighborhood with fantastic food and drink provided by our local merchants: Askale, San Antonio Bar & Grill, Brookland Grill, and Brookland’s Finest. The Brookland Bridge Blog publicized the Tour and provided a generous donation of wine. Jeff Wilson and Alvin Truesdale, our Founding Fathers, donated champagne from their recent Brookland wedding. Sara Lucas of Petals, Ribbons & Beyond delivered lovely
flower arrangements for the houses and sold tickets. St. Anthony Catholic School guaranteed we had enough chairs and tables to accommodate all our guests. And, not to be forgotten, everything moved smoothly because of the competent, helpful and cheerful young Brooklanders who were there to set up, greet guests and finally clean up.

Thank you all, especially garden club members and friends, for helping to make the event special for everyone.

We recycle our yard signs so if you have one or see one anywhere (in a yard or on public space) please take it and return it to the front porch at 1233 Newton Street NE or the front porch at 1518 Kearney Street NE.
