We recently learned that the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market will welcome HiJAC, a unique architecture, art, and technology collaboration to Studio 17. From a press release:

HiJAC is a trans-disciplinary collaborative working between architecture, art, and technology. The team creates artistic spaces, objects, and moments that are driven by an interest in experimenting with how humans interact with both physical and virtual environments.

HiJAC will use the studio at the Arts Walk as an incubation space to generate and test ideas for new artistic interventions, with a focus on how people interact with space and how this interaction can be more playful and more human.  In addition to open-studio activities, HiJAC will work in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects DC Technology Committee to offer community workshops in interactive digital technologies and computational modeling.

HiJAC was founded by Hiroshi Jacobs, AIA, an artist and architect living and working in Washington, DC. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at The Catholic University of America School of Architecture & Planning, and an architect with STUDIOS Architecture. His designs and artwork have appeared in numerous publications and exhibitions, including Surface Magazine, Bloomberg, BusinessWeek, DC Modern Luxury, DesCours New Orleans, La Biennale di Venezia, (e)Merge Art Festival, and the Harvard Arts First Festival.

Welcome to the neighborhood, HiJAC!
