Brookland’s Stone Straw Building On The Market For $6.5 Million

Back in July we wrote about the possible sale of the Stone Straw building. At the time, we knew that WMATA was planning on moving the Metro Transit Police functions that happen there to another location and sell the building to a developer at some point. We recently read that the building is now for sale and WMATA is seeking bids for the property starting at $6.5 Million. More details from this story at the Washington Business Journal:

The overall Brookland property consists of two parcels totaling 28,000 square feet, improved with the historic, 68,700-square-foot Stone Straw, a two-story annex and surface parking. The building was constructed in the early 1930s for the Stone Straw Co.

Here are few  pictures we took of the historic building this summer.

The Stone Straw building is located at 900 Franklin St. NE along the Franklin Street Bridge near 10th street NE, beside the Metro tracks. We will let you know when we hear anything new.
