We learned from this story in the Washington Business Journal that a long delayed development project is likely moving forward in the coming years. The development will construct a hotel and conference center to support the area’s universities (Trinity, Catholic U) and other institutions, and will be at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Irving Street Northeast. The hotel will have 168 Residence Inn rooms and 168 Courtyard by Marriott rooms. The project has already been approved, but now the development team has brought forward changes to the original plan and has requested an extension to file building permit applications until July 31, 2016. The DC Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the project on Sept. 24. We will let you know when we hear anything new.
