Back in May we wrote about an affordable senior housing building called The Girard Street Senior Residences, planned for an empty lot at the corner of 16th and Girard. We recently learned that the groundbreaking will be today and that Mayor Muriel Bowser will be on hand to support the project. From the press release:
On June 30th, local developers Dantes Partners and The Menkiti Group, will break ground at the Girard Street Senior Apartments project in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser will participate in the ceremony and deliver opening remarks. The new building is a modern, 100% luxury affordable senior housing community, featuring 25 apartments that provide economic advantages to residents and contributes to the vibrant character of the neighborhood. The anticipated construction period is 12 months.
