Since at least 2007, the vacant lot at 1300 Rhode Island Ave NE has had a sign asking us if we were “Hot Enough?” because $75 million mixed use development “Brookland Square” was coming. Well, not really, the funding for the Brookland Square development fell through many years ago. Then the property hit the market again in 2011, but the “Brookland Square” sign stayed up, fading a little more with each passing year. Yesterday, we were interested to see that MAC Realty Advisors (who listed the property back in 2011) replaced the sign with a new “for sale” sign. It didn’t take much imagination to expect that this 84,856 square foot, commercially zoned property would see some movement towards development, being that it is directly across the street from one of the biggest development projects in DC, Brentwood Village. We will let you know when we learn anything new.
